I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post my question but here goes? My microscope camera I bought on fleabay a few years ago stopped working a few weeks after using it? Ive since re-installed win 7 64 bit on HP P6-2203a with A8550 CPU,8GB ram, 2 x 1 TB HDD. Ive decided to get serious again and try and get it to work. I plugged it into a blue USB slot on the front of the computer and a message came up saying it was downloading the driver.
I then tried to find where to click it to start? But I couldn't find anything?
Thats including the device manager, imaging devices only had the normal USB camera? Ive tried in the past to download different microscope drivers but nothing ever worked?
I'm 60+ y/o, so a bit behind on the software side of things? The microscope has no brand name or markings and the seller has long departed fleabay. When I first plugged it in, it just worked with no CD to download drivers or anything? Any ideas on how I could get this going again would be appreciated. Plug it into a non-blue USB port (USB2.0) Open device manager, described in the link till nr. 4: Can you see any exclamation marks or question marks or unknown devices?
Right click on the problematic device and left click properties Click Details tab Select Hardware Ids from the pull-down. You'll see a list of one or more Hardware Id strings post them I plugged it into a normal USB slot on the back of the computer but nothing came up in device manager? I restarted the computer and it still wasn't there? There are no question or exclamation marks in device manager either.I tried another USB slot and now it is on device manager! I updated the driver but still cant work out how to turn it on? How do I post the list of hardware ID strings here?
So it worked under Win7 64bit before? Yes, it was working great. I think it may have been corrupted by me using CCleaner to clean the registry? It now appears in device manager and says; This device is working and it has the correct driver? Its just that I cant find anywhere to turn it on? I have another normal Canon camera that I upload photos to this computer through a cable,it doesn't come up on the device manager although it shouldn't anyway?

Ive been waiting for an email notification but it isn't working for some reason? You need a tool to run the camera like or I ran Yawcam and its acting just like malware?
I was prompted to choose a program to use for it,so I chose windows media player? Now whatever I try to open WMP, will appear saying it cant download the file including WMP itself? I cant do a system restore or set the program again because of this. All the icons on the desktop and elsewhere have blanked out and I cant log onto Firefox.my email etc.Its taken me all day trying to work this out and I don't know how I got here to post this really,I was trying everything when I noticed the address bar?
Any idea how I can get out of this mess? The links I gave you are save. Uninstalling yawcam would have been the easiest way to get rid of it, or at bottom right, there should be an icon of yawcam, just right -click on it an 'exit' instead of windows media player you should use java/javascript up to date java installed yet? Did you try to load the oldest restore point?
That´s the only way your computer is acting so weird now. Many applications were installed since this point were made. All have to be installed again, or you try the newest restore point made of the system. My computer is acting as though it has a virus? Every time I try to fix it,I'm stopped from doing it?
My system image file is empty? C: programfiles commonfiles is corrupt and unreadable? But then on the next try they aren't corrupt but it will be something else stopping me? My recovery disk isn't working either? If I had of known that I had to choose Java to open Yawcam I would have,I thought WMP an imaging program would be the obvious way to go? Could I install Yawcam again and choose java this time? Would that work?
Don´t know what you are trying to do. Downloading and installing java is of course possible without java. Click on this link and select java download After you downloaded it, double click on the setup/install file and follow instructions. Evenually a window will appear, which wants to install a so called 'ask toolbar' or similar, uncheck the boxes, because we don´t need that, and click ok/continue.
Check java by opening this link: What system image file are you searching? Restore point: Do you have an Anti Virus application installed? Make a complete scan.
Ive tried over and over again to download and install java? A message box appears and says Windows Media Player cannot download this file? In other words it cant run the file.I can download Java alright but I cant install or run it because of WMP? The system image ISO is the one the computer was looking for when I was trying to do a system repair and couldn't find it? I checked on my backup HDD and its not there either? I checked my recovery partition on C: drive and that's empty too? My last backup was on 30/3/2015 and that IS there on my backup drive.
I use Malwarebytes but of course I cant run it because WMP wont allow it.Do you see now that whatever I do to fix this, WMP stops me from doing it! Did you try to recover the system from a restore point? What message exactly appears, when trying to run anything? Ive mentioned this on several occasions already about trying to restore to an earlier time and Ive said it cant be done? If I click on system restore it says system restore can not be done?(exactly that) and yet again, the message that appears says that Windows media player is having a problem downloading this file?(exactly that) I right clicked properties on a Java install that I have downloaded,it says that it is a WMP file, all my desktop icons are now WMP icons. This happened as soon as I installed Yawcam? Ive always been able to find a way out of these things and fix other computers but this has got me stumped?
This is another message I got when doing some troubleshooting. When attempting to save your settings, the following system error occurred 'The task image is corrupt or has been tampered with. Sorry that I asked this several times, but you never clearly said, that you tried to recover it from a 'restore point' and what exactly happened after that, like the error message. It´s very difficult to help, if the steps which were done, are not described precisley.
I now installed yawcam from the link I gave you myself, but had java installed already, so it just ran fine, no tampering of anything. Something tampered your file extensions and now every time you wanna run an exe, wmp tries to start it, but can´t. Which associations are there for windows media player? The last time I used CCleaner registry cleaner was 2 years ago and since then Ive re-installed windows,Ive explained that before? Ive downloaded the Kapersky rescue disk and burnt it to a CD but it wont do anything? Ive opened the files and double clicked them but all it does is go to more files again and again, the other files in it wont open,a windows message comes up saying it cant open it? Ive tried to open it in WMP the usual WMP comes up saying it cant do it.I deleted that and kept going until a windows message says it doesn't have the codec to open it?
I have a WIN 7 64 bit repair disk and a recent backup on a separate HDD drive, could I reformat the C: drive and start again somehow? I checked on windows update and found that was empty as well? All my previous updates are missing? I had stopped Microsoft essentials updates about 18 months ago so I enabled it again and ran a full scan,it came up with nothing? Thats why I turned it off in the first place because it never ever detected anything ever in the approx 4 years I ran it? The win 7 repair disk burnt on 8/8/2013 wont work now either, I tried it just out of curiosity,it did work because Ive used it before.

Wepresent mirrorop download. How do I boot from the Kapersky repair disk? Do I have to go into the bios and disable windows or something? I was talking about the USB microscope maybe having been corrupted through using CCcleaner registry cleaner a few years ago and I had to re-install windows way back then?
You don't seem to be paying attention to what Ive been saying at all? Ive had to repeat myself a number of times? I burnt the Kapersky ISO file as an ISO file using Windows disk burner? Ive also gone into BIOS and configured CD/DVD to boot first.Ive restarted with the Kapersky repair disk and windows starts as normal, the disk doesn't boot as far as I know? Nothing happens anyway? Ive read the instructions/user manual for the repair disk but you would have to be an IT professional to understand it? Thats why I was saying its hard to do because I have no Google to find out what the acronyms etc.mean?
I have burnt the Kapersky repair file as an ISO,set the BIOS to boot from CD/DVD and it doesn't work! You know that I'm 60+ Y/O and don't know much, yet you've dumped this stuff on me expecting me to work it out from there? Remember about 30 posts ago I asked for a fix for my USB microscope and now my O.S.
Is stuffed,if anyone has a right to be pissed off I think its me. I'm not blaming you for this happening because you obviously wouldn't do it on purpose but the facts remain. Another thing is I keep asking you questions but you don't answer and sometimes when you do its out of context?
I asked you, if I have a recent backup on a separate HDD and I format C drive,(wipe it) can I run my Win 7 64 bit repair disk to reload windows, then restore my files from backup that's on a separate HDD? I disabled windows from starting, tried to boot from the Kapersky disk and found that the ISO image hadn't been burnt at all even though it said it did at the time and verified it? So I burnt another one on windows image burner again and turned off windows in the BIOS. Now Kaperskys working but it cant connect to the internet to update its antivirus files? I ran a scan anyway but I don't think it picked up anything? It said something about 2 events and 4 objects? My internet connection is optical fiber then a cable to a Wi Fi router.
I plug straight into the router,I don't use the Wi Fi. Sorry for not answering all of your questions. If the repair disk can´t repair your windows, it´s useless. One last thing before wiping c boot the pc, press key 'F8' several times to get a menu before windows starts, there select 'Last Known Good Configuration' if this doesn´t work: How did you backup your files? Which tool did you use? Ive downloaded and installed a whole lot of registry ZIP files to bring my registry back to stock configuration,so just about everything is working again.I un-installed K-Lite Codecs and it fixed the desktop icons. The main things to fix now are Firefox browser(couldnt load xpcom) and Adobe Flashplayer keep crashing on Youtube etc.But works with IE Internet Explorer.
The tool I use for back-up is windows back-up? By the way back-up says that the back-up catalog is corrupted or been tampered with?
So there's a few things still not right. Uninstall all other unnecessary tools, tuning, improvement utilities download latest firefox and install it over your current one download latest flashplayer and install it over your current one this could help for the backup thing: But a complete reinstallation of windows would be the best thing to do, save your personal data to another HDD. I kept restarting and hitting F11 until it finally worked,so now Ive re-installed windows and everything's back to normal.
I had a glitch with restoring my backup, all my folders were empty? So I ran restore again replacing the folders with a copy and now its all go Thunderbirds! Whew, what a nightmare that was. I realize now where the virus got in, it was when I was prompted to turn off my antivirus protection to install Java 8 update. I was still online at the time?
I didn't go anywhere else just to the Java 8 update and clicked on that? Ill try Yawcam and install the java update offline in a week or so to let my nerves settle a bit.LOL.

A: The level of magnification is controlled by the silver focus wheel, then the microscope or the object must be moved to the appropriate distance in order to be in focus. Q: I can’t get my microscope to zoom past 30x indicated magnification, how do i get to 200x? A: At the closest distance with the clear shield touching the object, there are two possible magnifications. The first is at around 30x indicated, but if you continue to rotate the focus wheel, the image will get blurry, then sharp again at around 200x indicated! Q: How do I dim the LED lights?
A: The LED lights can be dimmed or turned off by rotating the black LED light control wheel near the rear of the microscope. If you are having problems with glare, try viewing your intended object at an angle. Q: I see a “device not detected” message in MicroCapture when it’s clearly connected. A: You may have to disconnect and reconnect the microscope when restarting MicroCapture, and it can take up to 30 seconds for MicroCapture to detect the microscope. It’s also possible that the microscope isn’t running under it’s specialized driver that MicroCapture requires in order to see the microscope. IMPORTANT UPDATE (MAY 10, 2017): Hi everyone. I am adding some information I received from one of the video viewers, Mr Ed C. He has some experience using this type of microscope with Win8/Win10 and he sent me the following information: 'When Microsoft pushed their win10 out to my win8 the change was made, even though I stopped the upgrade and reverted back. Some things were now part of my DLL. I can now access my camera, as can anyone I suppose who have had this problem by starting the camera app in windows. This is a fix many can use so as a support person you may be able to use this. Frustration over.
NOW I need to figure out why my hard drive devices do the same thing plugging into USB. They are being directed away from my pc to somewhere I have not yet figured out.' Let me summarize; There are many models of similar looking microscopes on the market, however they are all imaging devices similar to your computer webcam. There should not be any problems getting them to work with Win8 or Win10. If you are having trouble getting the drivers that came on the CD provided with the microscope to work with your version of windows, then you can try deleting the software and then let windows load a 'generic' driver. This is often successful in getting the microscope to work.
Then contact the manufacturer to get the latest version of image capture software or find and download an open-source computer capture software such as AM-CAP. It's very likely that the driver hasn't been installed properly or that you don't have the right one for your version of Windows. Try uninstalling the driver, restarting your PC, then reinstalling it (making sure that it's the right one for your Windows) and rebooting again.
Additionally, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the application as some freak accident may have caused it to not install or register properly. Lastly, try using a different USB port, preferably one that you've tested with a different device and that you know for sure is working.
